A Travel-Inspired Modern Eclectic Dream [Home]
When I first met Jennifer, she and her boyfriend Nick were dreaming of a life where they owned a home in Joshua Tree and both lived in and used it as an Airbnb.
Fast forward about a year, and they were multiple steps closer! The house had been purchased and they were remodeling everything from the bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and more...
Jennifer found herself tired and overwhelmed with decisions like whether she should keep the current floor tiles or rip them out for something she loved. Not to mention where to place the furniture she eventually bought or how to make everything she had from her travels look good together. It was important to her to incorporate the furniture, accessories, and art from her years of traveling the globe into the interior design of the home.
We met virtually and, over the course of a few months, made tons of decisions! We started by deciding to use a bright and colorful piece of art as the inspiration for our color scheme and front door color. Next we finalized the design concepts and layouts for an open and welcoming living room and breakfast nook area. We exchanged texts and had phone calls about furniture purchases from various local shops, and even local thrift stores!
We decided to keep the existing large tiles in the living room and kitchen and instead splurged on quality focal point items like the Scandinavian Designs living room sofa and the Cactus Silk lumbar pillows on the breakfast nook benches.
Once I arrived in person we made very few changes and I was able to with a few staging and accessorizing details throughout.
The main bedroom and bathroom, with it’s own entry, are now on Airbnb and booked regularly!
Jennifer, Nick, and their dog Beta are living (and loving) their Desert's Edge dream!
